How Recruiters are using Social Media Profiles

As I read through this article today (see link below), I thought it might be helpful for me to let my readers know how I use social media as I connect clients and candidates.

LinkedIn is a good resource for a baseline understanding of background and experience. If you are going to have a profile, it’s worth having a good one (accurate, succinct, etc). For ‘sales’ oriented positions, I also think LinkedIn shows how active someone is from a networking point of view.

I do not use Facebook professionally, but I am surprised at the % in this survey that do use it for recruiting/hiring. I guess that supports the common sense advice not to put things out there you do not want others to know!
